Bulletin Board: Orange’s Delaney Parker helps Westfield State women’s track capture MASCAC title

Orange’s Delaney Parker helped the Westfield State women’s track & field team capture the 2024 MASCAC Outdoor Track and Field Title at the Jerry Gravel Track and Alumni Field in Westfield on Friday.

Westfield’s quartet of Parker, Eliza Lee, Emily Ottomaniello and Paige Moroney became the MASCAC champs in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.46 seconds, which for the moment vaulted them to 48th in the nation on the NCAA Division III performance list.

Westfield finished with 201 points, ahead of runner-up Bridgewater with 175. Worcester State was third with 94, Fitchburg fourth with 77, and Framingham State fifth with 63.

Middle Schools

The Green Wave Middle School softball team took down Turners Falls, 25-1, on Friday.

Samantha Suhl struck out two in the circle for Greenfield and Avery Cutting finished the job with seven strikeouts. Sofia Ruggeri and Stella Call added hits for the Wave in the win.

Turners Falls received two hits apiece from Taylor Scanlon and Azariah Stebbins, and strong play from pitcher Eliza Carew and catcher Mikaila Dagan.

GMLB

Maniatty’s 11, Denny’s 7 – A big double by Luciano Stoffalano changed the momentum and put Maniatty’s ahead en route to Friday’s win. Carter Gunnison and Phil Brodeur had two hits apiece in the win.

Denny’s Fred Burnap roped a bases-clearing double. Xavier Reynolds, Benedict Shivone and Quest Petersen also hit safely.

Fitzgerald Real Estate 7, Parody Builders 7 – Liam Grant and Lucas Wallner both had multiple hits while Jacolby Dyer belted a triple for Fitzgerald's.

Forrest Russell provided three hits while Dimitri Gioules added two singles and a double for Parody.

Pioneer Valley Tire 7, Liberty Tax 5 – Gabe Tidlund, Brantley Godfrey, Kaydin Snow-Rose and Owen Castine (3-run inside-the-park home run) all had hits on the night for PV Tire.

Kyan Skutnik Sheffield and Jack Collins-Bradberry scored runs, and Brantley Godfrey struck out nine in three innings.

Liberty’s Adrion Lopex, Solomon O'Neil Evans, Elijah Lawler and Rowen Hickey all scored runs, and Harlon Hickey struck out nine in three innings.

Greenfield Elks League

Bob Walker was closest to the pin on No. 2 during Week 1 of the Greenfield Elks Golf League on Wednesday at CCG.

Walker was within 11 feet, 6 inches at No. 2. Dan Smith was closest at No. 5 (3-4).
