Barbara E. Bailey - Deceased, Oct. 5, 2012

ORANGE -- Barbara E. (Austin)(Noyes) Bailey, 93, of 239 Holtshire Rd., died early on Friday morning, Oct. 5, 2012 at Athol Memorial Hospital, following an illness.

Born in Wendell on Aug. 28, 1919, she was a daughter of Edwin D. and Alice M. (Lockwood) Austin and grew up in Wendell, and graduated from Orange High School in 1937.

Barbara's first husband was Vernon Noyes, who died in 1962. She later was married to Richard S. Bailey on Sept. 16, 1967 until his death on March 21, 2012.

Barbara had lived in West Brookfield, Athol, and Barre, and returned to Orange in 1962.

She was skilled at handicrafts and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her son, Donald Noyes of New Salem; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Haskins of Leominster; a brother, Ronald Austin of Orange; a half-brother, Lee Chaplin in Florida; a step-sister, Gladys Deveneau of Athol; and several nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents and two husbands, Barbara was predeceased by a son, Carroll Noyes in 1994, a daughter, Joan Spooner in 1991, brothers, Richard Austin and Edward Austin, and William Austin; and a step-brother, Victor Chaplin.

There are no calling hours or formal services.

Interment will be private.

Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
