Oli is right about the price of gasoline.
This week I had the opportunity to travel outside of Athol. Gasoline at BJ’s in Fitchburg is $2.07 ($1.097 with their discount program). Stations in that area are within two or three cents of BJ’s price. Keene, N.H., was at $2.17, Greenfield at $2.28, Northampton at $2.28 and even stations in Templeton and Gardner 20-plus cents less then local stations who are at low $2.50s.
It is interesting that the local stations are at the same price or within pennies. Is it that they feel it is reasonable to gouge local citizens with their inflated pricing?
One local food distribution company that mistreated local citizens for years is now feeling the results of fair competition. Maybe we should invite a viable competitor to deal with local gas stations. At least we should let them know that we are dissatisfied.
