Organizer Dave Flint of the River Rat Race Committee and members of the Athol Lions Club manned the “River Rat Central” Thursday. One night a year, the business office at the Athol Daily News is taken over by the Rat Crew to accept race entries and phone calls through 8 p.m. By the end of the session, the total teams signed up for Saturday’s Athol to Orange canoe race increased to 267. Last minute entries will be accepted. The drawing for post positions will be held tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Athol Town Hall.
