WILBRHAM - Frederick H. Clarkson Jr. passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center.
He was born in New York City, the son of Frederick H. and Eunice Augusta Gordon (Gantz) Clarkson. He grew up in Plandome, N.Y., and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Bowdoin College, where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity.
He spent his career in industrial advertising, including as ad manager at Cuno Engineering in Meriden, Conn.; L.S. Starrett Co. in Athol, and American Saw in East Longmeadow.
In his retirement he enjoyed photography, notably for the Wilbraham Peach Festival. He was a member of the North Quabbin Lodge of the Masons and for many years was a member of the Wilbraham Country Club.
He leaves his wife Jean, sister Katharine McDonald, sons Frederick III and John, and grandsons Mason and Scott.
A memorial service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Friends of the Wilbraham Public Library or to Bowdoin College. Arrangements are by Wilbraham Funeral Home.
