Prudence C. Blair - April 1, 2014

ATHOL - A funeral service for Prudence C. (Smith) Blair, 71, of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., was held Friday, April 4, 2014, at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Korcz, pastor of Our Lady Immaculate Church, officiating. 

Burial followed at Gethsemane Cemetery and the bearers were Doug Blair, Sam Blair, Jason Blair, Michael Brady, Richard Callahan and John Bulloch. 

Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, directed arrangements.

ATHOL - Prudence C. (Smith) Blair, 71, of 821 Daniels Shays Hwy., died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Athol Hospital.

Prudence was born in New York City, July 12, 1942, the daughter of Maurice and Cara (Davis) Smith. She grew up and attended schools in Hopewell, N.J., graduating from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Penn., in 1964. She had lived in several areas of the U.S. during her life and since 2009 has resided in Athol.

She worked as a Fotomat sales representative for several years. Prudence enjoyed photography all of her life, winning several awards for her work which was published. Her Catholic faith has always been a very important part of her life, referring to herself as a traditional Roman Catholic, and she has followed the Latin Mass. Besides her photography, she especially enjoyed her children, always being a part of their lives. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She leaves her husband of 48 years, Donald R. Blair; a son, Douglas L. Blair and his wife Christine of Athol; a daughter, Mary Brady of Durham, Conn., and four grandchildren, Jason, Sam, Michael and Sarah.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 4, at noon, at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., with the Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Korcz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. There will be a calling hour from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Prudence's memory to: Salvation Army-Athol Corps, 107 Ridge Ave., Athol, Mass.  01331. For further information or to share a memory with the family, go to
