ATHOL - Funeral services for Barbara F. (Roberts) Torchia, 85 of 528 Vine St., Athol, were held Monday, June 16, 2014, in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy Osher officiated. Words of remembrance were shared by family and friends. 

Burial followed in Silver Lake Cemetery. The bearers were Gregory Torchia, Jason Lefsyk, William Lefsyk, Josh Torchia, Preston Torchia and Jamie Orciuch.

Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, directed arrangements.

ATHOL - Barbara F. (Roberts) Torchia, 85, of 528 Vine St., died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Buckley Nursing Home, Greenfield.

She was born in Chelsea, on May 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Stanely and the late Elizabeth (O'Brien) Roberts.

Barbara moved to Athol when she was 5-years-old and has been a lifelong resident. She worked as a nurse's aide at Athol Memorial Hospital as well as working at L.S. Starrett Company and Wal-Mart.

She loved cats and was always knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves one daughter: Linda Lefsyk and her husband William of Athol; two sons: Joseph Torchia and his wife Carol of Orange, Gregory Torchia and his fiancé Cynthia of Athol; one sister: Elizabeth Peterson of Athol; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers: Stanley Roberts and Robert Roberts.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.

 Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.

A Calling hour will be held Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, Mass. 02472.
