New Salem Approves Changes To Energy Bid
NEW SALEM -- At Tuesday night's selectboard meeting, Amy Fagen of the Energy Committee discussed the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) boiler and duct work projects. She reported that two bids had been received, one from Royal Steam Heat (RHS) and one from Envirohealth.

ROYALSTON -- Selectman Jack Morse has called for a meeting so that a general plan may be developed to keep the waste water treatment plant operational until the new plant can be built.

Change In The Calculation Of School Assessments Proposed
ORANGE -- The method by which Mahar Regional School has calculated its assessments to the four district towns came under fire by Wendell officials who said the statutory method that has been used is unfair. A committee has been working to recommend a more equitable methodology.

ATHOL -- The selectboard on Tuesday approved the event permit for the Athol Area United Way's fundraising campaign kick-off parade to be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 8 to 9 a.m., beginning at Fish Park and proceeding to Island Street.

Loop Hike On Tully Mt. Sunday

ORANGE -- One of the signature features of the North Quabbin region is Tully Mountain, and on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., noted author Allen Young and naturalist Clare Green will lead a loop hike exploring the mountain.
