Athol Police log

Monday

8:25 a.m. - Traffic stop, North Main Street. Citation for failure to inspect.

9:59 a.m. - Walk-in reports hitting a deer on Saturday. Damage to driver's side of vehicle.

10:06 a.m. - Wak-in reports larceny of wood, Pine Hill Road. Investigated.

10:30 a.m. - Traffic stop, South Main Street. Citation for failure to stop at red light.

11:42 a.m. - Subject to station with purse found, East River Street. Owner later picked up same.

12:33 p.m. - Transported party from East River Street location to home on Oaklawn Avenue.

12:47 p.m. - Officer requested to keep the peace per restraining order (209A), Howe Street. Officer escort provided. No problems.

3:15 p.m. - Control advised ambulance was responding to area for a young man who had fallen off his bike and injured his head, Second Street. On arrival, stood by until Athol ambulance arrived to provide transport.

3:22 p.m. - Control received report of suspicious red car, South Main Street. Under investigation.

3:48 p.m. - Control reports receiving call from subject requesting to speak to officer about being victim of online scam, Stone Valley Road. On arrival, report taken.

4 p.m. - While on West River Street, officer was flagged down by postman reporting heavy smoke coming from chimney at house, Maynard Street. Concerned about possible fire. On arrival, home owner advised and opened damper which resolved issue. She was advised to monitor situation and call fire department if she has any issues.

4:05 p.m. - While on West River Street, officer found vehicle and driver parked in road with a cat that had been hit by a car. Animal had passed and was moved to side of road. Highway Department advised to remove same in morning.

4:42 p.m. - Control received a report of a plane that flew low over King James Court, East River Street. Control was advised police were aware and that it landed in field behind the police station. This is a regular occurrence; no violation of FAA regulations.

6:10 p.m. - Traffic stop, West Main Street. Verbal warning for defective headlight.

7:20 p.m. - Walk-in reports harassment.

7:46 p.m. - Control reports receiving call from party reporting annoying and harassing phone calls, West Main Street. Officer sent. On arrival, spoke with party who stated subject has been calling and leaving threatening messages. Ongoing issue over money that subject claims party owes. They have already been in court about matter. Advised party of his options and to call back if anything further occurs.

8:26 p.m. - Caller believes drug activity is occurring, Cheney Street.

9 p.m. - Control reports receiving call from alarm company about alarm activation, Oxbow Road. On arrival, residence checked; appeared to be secure.

11:35 p.m. - 911 hang-up, New Athol Road. On arrival, found to have been accidental.

Today

12:20 a.m. - Found airport administration building unsecure. Checked and secured same.

2 a.m. - Found shipping and receiving door open, Blodgett Street. Key holder notified and responded to secure same.
