ATHOL — A graveside service for Doris A. Housman was held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in Highland Cemetery Athol.

Rev. Mark Bariloni, pastor of the Athol-Orange Baptist Church, officiated.

Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, directed arrangements.

ATHOL  — Doris Ann (Bigwood) Housman, 84, of 821 Daniel Shays Hwy., died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Quabbin Valley Healthcare.

She was born in Orange, on Jan. 17, 1933, the daughter of the late Robert E. and the late Bernice M. (Wilbur) Bigwood.

Doris grew up in Orange and was educated there. She lived in Athol for over 48 years, moving to Orange where she lived for eight years before moving back to Athol three years ago. She was a seamstress at Athol Pant Company and worked at UMass Amherst as a dorm housekeeper. 

She enjoyed sewing, and going for car rides and day trips with her husband Earl.

She leaves one daughter, Karen R. Rathburn and her husband Timothy of Athol; one son, Arthur R. Housman of Willis, Texas; six grandchildren, Matthew Rathburn and his wife Stephanie, Amy Rathburn, Tracy Rathburn, Timothy Housman, Kevin Housman, and Natasha Housman; three great-grandchildren, Skylee Housman, Leah Rathburn, and Cadence Rathburn; and one brother, Edward Bigwood.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Earl D. Housman who passed away in 2010; her grandson Daniel Housman; and her siblings, Clinton Bigwood, Althea Kenney, Wilhemina C. Stewart, Robert E. Bigwood Jr., Rose Bigwood, Richard Bigwood, Gordon Bigwood, Roger Bigwood, William Bigwood, Tom Shearer and Norma Young.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 17, at 2 p.m., in the Highland Cemetery, Hillside Terrace, Athol.
