Richard C. Spofford

ORANGE — Richard Charles Spofford Sr., of Orange, born in Ashland on May 3, 1927, died March 8, 2017, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, S.C.

Richard served in the United States Navy during World War II and served with the Massachusetts State Police and retired at the rank of lieutenant.  

He served on the Executive Committee Monadnock Council Boy Scouts of America; as a past commander of BPO Elks Lodge 1837; was a life member of the American Legion; Melha Temple Shriners; Red Cross, Knights of Malta, Knights Templar, York Rite and Scottish Rite. His life was dedicated to public service. 

Funeral services are being held graveside on Saturday, July 15. The procession will meet at the Spaulding High School, Parking Lot, 1 Whitcomb St., Townsend, at 10:30 a.m.
