Friday: Orange Community Band performs
ORANGE — The Orange Community Band, under the direction of Stephanie Parker, will present the final of their six summer band concerts on the bandstand in Butterfield Park on Friday, July 29, at 7 p.m., sponsored by Witty’s Funeral Home. Free.
As always in these traditional concerts, the band will begin with the Star Spangled Banner, followed by a march, an overture, and various pop, traditional, and show tunes from a variety of styles. Music this week will include several brand new selections purchased through a grant from the Trustees of New Salem Academy and the Orange Cultural Council.
WINCHESTER, N.H. — The Monadnock Tri-State Dance Club will host at dance Saturday, July 30, at the ELMM Community Center, 21 Durkee St., Winchester, N.H., 7 to 10:30 p.m.

PETERSHAM — The Petersham Brass Band will present its final concert of the summer season on Sunday, July 31, at 7 p.m., from the Bandstand on Petersham Common. Sunday’s concert will be the 841st presentation since it was founded in 1914. The concert will be conducted by Stuart Britton.
Sunday’s theme will be music from movies, television and theater and will feature an overture from “The Barber of Seville.” Other selection will include pop favorites from Herb Alpert and several marches.
The band will have hot dogs, soda and water available. Popcorn will be sold by the Lions Club and the Unitarian Church will sponsor the Bake Sale.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move inside the Town Hall.
BELCHERTOWN — The Department of Conservation and Recreation will host a 1.5-mile walk Thursday, Aug. 4, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The walk is characterized as moderate. Meet at DCR Office on corner of Elm Street and Rt. 202 and participants will caravan over to the hike location.
Gays Hill Barrens is a habitat restoration project underway at DCR-DWSP Quabbin Reservoir. Explore how DCR-DWSP is creating a network of “refugia” for these specialized species to flourish and expand their populations. Bring protection from sun as well as ticks, mosquitoes, etc. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring water. Dogs are not allowed anywhere at Quabbin. Register at: bit.ly/3PRQE6M
