For the second year in a row, the Frontier field hockey team will make its way to the MIAA Division 4 tournament Final Four.

The fifth-seeded Red Hawks downed Sutton, 2-1, at Auburn High School in the Round of 8 on Saturday. Frontier scored early against the Suzies and held on to secure the win.

“The girls scored early and kept the pressure on,” Frontier field hockey coach Missy Mahar said. “Momentum swung and Sutton capitalized.”

Frontier led 2-0 at halftime. Goals came from Haly-Doucette-Kaplan and Rowan Reilly, with assists from Macy DeMaio and Ashlie Galenski. Sutton scored a third-quarter goal to close the gap on Frontier.

“I was happy to see the girls regroup and keep their composure the final five minutes of the game when Sutton was pressuring,” Mahar said. “They should be proud of themselves for going on the road, handling tournament pressure and beating a solid team.”

Frontier plays top-seeded Monomoy at Marlborough High School on Thursday at 6 p.m. Monomoy has outscored its opponents 25-0 so far in its postseason run.
