Mount Grace hosts Giving Tuesday Pub Science Event

BARRE –Join a pub science event in support of Mount Grace’s Giving Tuesday fundraising drive. The event will feature a presentation about how climate change is affecting the region’s freshwater habitats and what can be done about it, given by MassWildlife’s Conservation Science Program Manager Becca Quinones.

This fundraising event’s goal is to reach $12,500 before midnight on Dec. 2. Thanks to a $12,500 match, contributions will go twice as far. The fundraiser will be held at Stone Cow Brewery, 500 West Street, Barre, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Quinones has studied the impacts of dams, land use, and climate change on rivers and estuaries for more than 30 years. Some of her achievements include contributions to the removal of the Klamath River Dams in California, co-authorship of the National Climate Adaptation Strategy, and mainstreaming mitigation of climate change effects at MassWildlife.

Email Caitie Dwyer-Huppert at dwyer-huppert@mountgrace.org to RSVP. Those with specific questions related to aquatic habitats and climate change, email them to Caitie who will share them with Becca so she can plan to address them in her talk.
