AHS Art Club exhibit and sale
ROYALSTON – During December, artwork by Athol High School Art Club students will be exhibited at the Phinehas S. Newton Library, 19 On the Common, in Royalston. There are paintings, drawings, and sculptures available to view and purchase. All proceeds will go directly to the student.
Stop by on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m., when students from the club will be at the library for a public viewing. The exhibit is open during regular library hours of Mondays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Circle of Song celebrates 25 years
BARRE – For Circle of Song’s 25th Anniversary, the program will feature some of the best musical numbers performed over the years from 2002-2025 at Barre Town Hall, 2 Exchange St., 7 p.m.
As is usual with the group, there will be a number of conductors. Scott Bryant, local musician and musical educator, will conduct “Seal Lullaby,” an evocative look by composer Eric Whitacre into the life of a baby seal going to sleep in the ocean waves.
Nancy Afonso will direct “Mary, Did You Know?” by the Pentatonix, a performing ensemble. Afonso is a retired music educator and long-time collaborator with Circle of Song.
For the traditionalists, Jeff Williams, whose go-to in the musical world is Broadway musicals, will conduct Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

Pioneer Valley Brass Quintet to perform at First Universalist Parish
WINCHENDON – The Pioneer Valley Brass Quintet will present a free public concert of holiday music specially arranged for brass at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Winchendon on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. The program is sponsored by the First Universalist Parish of North Dana.
The Pioneer Valley Brass is a group of musicians from throughout the North Quabbin area, and has been performing for over 40 years with various membership. This season’s members include Dick Tandy and Steve Babineau on trumpet, Tabitha Greelees on horn, Dana Tandy on trombone and Dan Walker on tuba.
Saturday’ s program includes “God Rest Ye Merry,” “A Carol Fantasy Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella,” “I Have a Little Dreidel,” and much more. The program is subject to change.
Other Pioneer Valley Brass performances sponsored by the First Universalist Parish of North Dana this season include Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Long Avenue in Greenfield.
