Harvey Goldstein

Deep Creek, Punta Gorda, FL – Harvey Goldstein, 86, of Deep Creek, Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on December 1, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he and his wife, Jodi, of 48 years, moved to Punta Gorda from Athol Massachusetts in 2001. They had lived in Maine for many years prior.

Harvey earned his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and his graduate degree from NYU. He completed post graduate work from Tufts as well as University of Oregon.

His career included working as a professor, teaching courses in U.S. Constitutional Law and Civil Liberties. He served as director of Veteran Services in Massachusetts where he assisted veterans. Additionally, he wrote a weekly column called ” Vets Corner” in the Athol Daily news. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict focused on cryptography and counterintelligence.

In Florida, Harvey served for many years on the Republican Executive Committee of Charlotte County, Chaplain of the Peace River Sail and Power Squadron, Board member and Past President of Deep Creek Sec. 23 Property Owners Association, a member of the Curmudgeon Club, and a part time columnist for the Charlotte Sun.

He is survived by his Loving wife, Joann “Jodi” Goldstein, his son, Keith Goldstein, of New York and daughter, Lauren Tafrate, and son-in-law Chip Tafrate of Connecticut as well as his five beloved grandchildren, Simon Goldstein, Louis Goldstein, Mia Goldstein, Jacob Tafrate and Samantha Tafrate.
