Saturday, Jan. 10
7:48 a.m. Multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle had struck a tree on School Street. A street sign was also damaged in the crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
11:29 a.m. A party came into the station to report they believe they have been scammed or received a fraudulent check. An officer advised party the letter and check was a scam and to not contact the requested party.
11:38 a.m. A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main and Exchange streets was reported. A citation was issued to one of the drivers for marked lanes violation.
1:01 p.m. A caller reported that they went into the store and ordered a drink at Dunkin. They said that before being served, they were harassed by the employee, who refused to serve them and brought up their criminal record. Officers spoke with the staff, who said that the manager had advised them not to serve the reporting party. The reporting party was told they’d be given a refund.
1:08 p.m. A party went to the station to report that another party had damaged a TV in the laundromat they own. The reporting party wanted them advised to stay away from the property.
1:34 p.m. Police were called about parts being stolen from a tractor on South Main Street, along with some firewood.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
6:11 a.m. A party reporting their vehicle was broken into last night. Reporting party did not want to speak to officer just wanted it noted.
6:17 a.m. Police spoke to a party about their vehicle being broken into the previous evening and their wife’s purse had been stolen. The vehicle had been parked at 8 p.m., on Jan. 13 and the items were noticed stolen the next morning at around 5:15 a.m. Reporting party stated the purse contained a driver’s license, debit and credit cards. They were advised to freeze the cards and contact the banks and RMV. Damage was observed to the driver’s-side door handle. The plastic that encases the key hole appears to have been pulled off with a tool in order to access and unlock the vehicle.
6:40 a.m. Police spoke with a party about their vehicle being broken into the previous evening, between 4 p.m. on Jan. 13 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 14. Only loose change was stolen.
Thursday, Jan. 15
7:02 a.m. A party called to report their vehicle had been sideswiped on White Pond Road, after which the other vehicle left the scene. The caller followed the other vehicle and stayed on the line until officers responded. Police determined that the vehicles had been traveling in opposite directions on White Pond Road when a vehicle traveled over into the other lane and damaged the mirror on the reporting party’s vehicle. A citation was issued.
9:22 a.m. An officer spoke with Westminster Police, who said they had been contacted by an employee at the Athol Royalston Regional School District, regarding possible hacking of their devices. Athol Police spoke with the reporting party.
9:30 a.m. Smoke was seen coming from a home on Riceville Road. It was determined to be an issue with a pellet stove, which the homeowner said they would monitor.
12:39 p.m. An employee of the Montachusett Area Regional Transit Authority called to report that they are having issues with a party being loud and intimidating on their buses. In one instance, this person allegedly sat next to a girl, preventing her from getting out of the seat, while yelling at her and calling her names. Today, this person came into the office and was being loud and trying to wander throughout the building. Police advised them of trespass options.
2:18 p.m. A suspicious person was seen on Morton Meadows, described as a male with a beard on an electric scooter wearing a gray sweater and jeans, knocking on doors.
Friday, Jan. 16
2:30 p.m. A two-vehicle crash at 55 South Main St. in New Salem was reported. One vehicle reportedly struck another in a parking lot.
