ATHOL – Two people are facing multiple drug charges following an arrest on Feb. 4, according to the Athol Police Department.
Taylor Balfour, 65, of 234 Intervale Ave., Athol, and Corey Melanson, 49, of 145 East Main St., Orange, were arraigned on Feb. 6 in Orange District Court.
Balfour is charged with drug possession to distribute a Class A drug, drug possession to distribute a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law and withholding evidence from criminal proceedings.
Melanson is charged with drug possession to distribute a Class A drug, drug possession to distribute a Class B drug, conspiracy to violate drug law, drug possession Class A and drug possession Class C.
The arrest occurred following a search of a residence in Athol on Feb. 4 by Athol Police Det. Paul Forand and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office Anti-Crime Task Force. As a result of the search, narcotics and U.S. currency were seized from the residence.
“The warrant was obtained because of ongoing citizen complaints and multiple lengthy investigations, including prior search warrant executions conducted in 2024 and 2025,” the release stated.
