Overview:

Royalston and Petersham will hold their town elections on April 6, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. In Royalston, Steve Egan is running for a three-year term on the Selectboard, and Kiley Hall is running a write-in campaign for reelection as an incumbent Athol Royalston Regional School Committee member. There is no candidate for the position of assessor. In Petersham, the only contest is for a three-year term on the Board of Health, with Cindy Hopper and Carole Hutchinson running against each other. Joshua Chernin is running unopposed for a three-year term on the Selectboard.

Short of a write-in campaign, Royalston will see no contested races in its upcoming town election.

In Royalston, Steve Egan is running for a three-year term on the Selectboard. Egan was one of three candidates who ran in last April’s town election to fill the year remaining in the term of Shelby Bronnes, who resigned from the board in January 2025. Egan and Chris Deveneau were defeated by Linda Alger.

There is no candidate for the position of assessor. Incumbent Athol Royalston Regional School Committee member Kiley Hall is running a write-in campaign for reelection.

Incumbents facing no opposition and whose names appear on the ballot include Cemetery Commission member Mikaela Florucci, Board of Health member Phil Leger, Library Trustee Theresa Quinn, and John N. Bartlett Trust Fund members Curtis Deveneau, Nancy Melbourne and Gary Winitzer. One open seat on the trust fund has no candidate. Newcomer Danielle Egan is running for a five-year term on the Planning Board.

The only contest on the Petersham ballot is between Cindy Hopper and Carole Hutchinson, who are running for a three-year term on the Board of Health.

Joshua Chernin is running unopposed for a three-year term on the Selectboard. He will replace Susan Dougherty, who chose not to seek reelection.

Other non-incumbents running unopposed include Stephen Hammond for Mahar Regional School Committee, Richard Lent for Planning Board and Donna Crook for Trustees of the Public Library.

Incumbents facing no opposition are Town Moderator Bart Wendell, Treasurer Dana Robinson, Board of Assessors member Ellen Anderson, Lynne Feldman for Petersham School Committee, and Planning Board members Fraser Sinclair and John Lawson.
