South Athol Church suppers return

ATHOL – The first of the five monthly South Athol United Methodist Church suppers will begin on Saturday, April 18, with savory chicken and biscuits with gravy, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, green beans, dinner rolls and homemade pies for dessert.

Reservations are required and tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. The suppers will be at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

There have been some changes to the ‘supper staff’ and the reservation phone number has changed to 978-249-3167. This phone will be monitored by assigned members of the congregation, so please leave a detailed message and someone will return the call. When making reservations, please specify if they are for eat-in or take-out, as this will simplify it for servers to accommodate all diners.

Four more suppers are also scheduled. On May 16, pot roast of beef is on the menu. For Father’s Day weekend, consider treating dad to Swedish meatballs on June 20 with a strawberry shortcake for dessert. Swedish meatball suppers will be dedicated to Ralph Stoddard, who has been a long-standing, invaluable Church Supper Manager, along with his many other tasks.

The remaining suppers will be held on Sept. 19 with baked ham and Oct. 17 with braised beef. Both these suppers will have a selection of homemade pies for dessert. There will be no scheduled supper in November because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

All food is prepared and served family-style by experienced kitchen helpers, many who are Serve Safe certified. The church is located at at 65 Morgan Ave.
