Red Apple Farm to host Blueberry Jamboree

PHILLIPSTON – Blueberry season is one of New England’s sweetest traditions, and Red Apple Farm will be celebrating this with its annual Blueberry Jamboree. Held over two weekends—July 11–12 and July 18–19—the festival features pick-your-own blueberries, local artisan vendors, homemade treats, live music, and family-friendly activities that celebrate one of New England’s favorite summer harvests.

Festival activities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a full lineup of family-friendly events. Pick-Your-Own blueberries will be available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., giving visitors plenty of time to head into the blueberry fields before or after enjoying the festival.

Guests can fill a bucket with fresh-picked blueberries, hop aboard the Blueberry Express Hayride, browse local artisan vendors, enjoy fresh blueberry treats, or relax in the Cider Garden while listening to live music. Throughout the day, families can join in Blueberry Bingo, test their skills in the Blueberry Donut-on-a-String Contest, cool off during the Water Balloon Toss, and enjoy live music all day on the Cidery and Brew Barn stages.

Recycle Day at Saint Francis of Assisi

ATHOL – Saint Francis of Assisi, located at 101 Main St., Athol, will host an electronic/appliance/household items Recycle Day on Saturday, July 11, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All items should be brought to the parking lot. Please no paint or chemicals.

Also included is Bicycle Recycle Day at no charge. Bring unwanted old or new bicycles and drop them off. It will be reused again. Working or non working mini bikes and mopeds will also be accepted. Bikes can also be picked up if needed.

Below is a list of accepted items and their prices:

Small electronic items, $5 each – Computer towers, scanners, VCRs, printers, copiers, DVDs, stereo equipment, lighting, vacuums, answering machines, faxes, speakers, compact discs, circuit boards, radios, record players, modems, word processor, fans, video equipment, game consoles, tape players, and typewriters (anything with a plug and more).

Appliances – Dishwashers, dryers, stoves, $25 each. Small microwaves are $15 and larges ones are $20. 

Lawn mowers, $25

Snow blowers, $40

TVs and monitors/flat panel monitors, 18”-26” are $25 each. Models that are 27”- 35” are $30 each. Models over 35” or projection TVs are $45 each.

Air conditioners, $25

Dehumidifiers, $20

Refrigerators – Small models (dorm room size) are $20. Larger models are $40.

Grills, $25

Empty propane tanks, $15

Exercise equipment, $20-$40

Weight sets, $10   

Household items, $10-$50, prices vary on size – Chairs, tables, bookcases, coffee tables, TV stands, entertainment centers, bed frames, headboards, garden hoses, car seats, upholstered chairs, inside and outside furniture.

No charge for these items – Keyboards, wires, cell phones, and car and boat batteries.
