PETERSHAM, MA – George T. Patriquin, 76, of 15 Spring St., died peacefully at home July 24, 2026, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born September 25, 1949 in Gardner, the son of George P. and Nora A (Helow) Patriquin. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1967. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Anselm College and completed his graduate work at Fitchburg State College.
George was a lifelong educator who began his work at the Brandon School in Petersham then taught at Mahar for 34 years, followed by seven years at the Durham Center for Education.
George was a contemplative and peaceful man; a scientist, craftsman, and artist who built the family home with 19th century hand tools and a scrimshander who worked out of his home studio. He played guitar and loved music. Above all, George was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and friend.
George is survived by Susan (Drowne), his wife of 55 years, sons
Jeromy, Joshua, and Gabriel, and grandchildren Hannah, Nora, Kiara, George, Eleanor, Penelope, and Thomas, cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Conlin.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 31, 4 – 6 PM at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 S. Main St., Orange, followed by a reception.
