ATHOL — The following special activities will take at Athol Public Library for children in May:

Wednesday, May 16,3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) workshop: Children can explore the life cycle of a darkling beetle with Paul McNiff. Children will also experiment with mealworms and design a racetrack to race the fastest ones.

This program is for children in grades 3 to 5.

It is possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Wednesday, May 23,4 to 5 p.m.

Craftastic Kids: Children in grades kindergarten through 5 can register to make a 3D rainbow craft.

May 25 through May 29

Stuffed Animal Sleepover: Children, 1 to 12 years old, can drop off their favorite stuffed for a sleepover at the library.

Soft friends can be followed on APL’s Facebook page throughout the long weekend. Call the library to register.

Thursday, May 31,4 to 5 p.m.

STEM Workshop: Children in grades 3 to 5 can register to design a three-dimensional object with the library’s 3D pens.
