“Castle Rock,” Hulu’s anticipated online series, was filming once again in Orange on Friday in preparation for the show’s release, but this time without the actors. Only a drone camera took shots at different locations to capture footage.

Location Manager Alex Berard said the shots are mainly for filler footage to finish the series. He said after the one-day shoot, if the weather permits, “Castle Rock” will not return to Orange for Season 1 shooting.

Berard said there is yet to be an official release date for the 10-episode Stephen King-inspired series, but fans can expect a release sometime during the summer.

“Castle Rock” crews started filming the series around the beginning of August in Orange and visited periodically until January 2018.

According to the Orange Police Department, the “Castle Rock” crew planned to film for about 12 hours — from noon Friday until midnight.

“We’re not going to close roads, there may be minor traffic delays,” said Orange Police.

Berard said the majority of the footage needed was filmed around North Main Street and South Main Street in downtown Orange. The crew also captured footage on Ball Street, where the main characters in the series live. The police said there would be no detours throughout the filming, and two officers were assigned to help with traffic flow throughout the day.

The fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, is written as a place straight out of nightmares. But a producer of the upcoming series based on the made-up location author Stephen King uses in much of his work says Orange, the town tapped for much of the filming, has been nothing but a dream.

Robin Sweet said late last year that people were lovely and patient during the filming.

“It could have been a real challenge, and I think it’s just all gone very smoothly,” Sweet said.

“Castle Rock” crews started working in Orange around the beginning of August 2017, visiting periodically to film the series.

Hulu, a subscription video-on-demand service, ordered 10 episodes of “Castle Rock.” Filming took place in Orange and at New England Studios in Devens. Hulu employees worked closely with the local government to arrange dates and times in which cast and crew could use public roadways — including the main intersection — for their work. Orange Police Department used Facebook to warn locals, often humorously, about when filming would occur. Officers directed traffic throughout filming, just like they did on Friday.

“Castle Rock” is also being produced by Warner Bros. Television. Orange landmarks, like the Quabbin Harvest food co-op at 12 North Main St., are visible in the trailer, which can be seen online at bit.ly/2r3kCuQ.
