ORANGE — According to Mahar softball coach Jerry Duguay, his team’s 26-0 loss to Turners Falls High School in five innings was more about the perennial powerhouse’s ability than anything else.

“They made contact, but Turners Falls is who they are, they’re the best in the league,” Duguay said.

The Indians (12-2) scored eight runs in the first, two in the second, six in the third, four in the fourth and six in the fifth. The Indians had 20 hits, including four home runs and three doubles, and generated nine walks.

Skylar Dodge and Juliana Herbert each had one of two hits for the Senators (7-7). Alexis Mainville-Schaefer walked twice, while Dodge walked once.

The two teams will face off again Thursday at 7 p.m. in Montague.
