ATHOL — Donna Barrett will present to the community her sculpture “Holding Space” on Friday, Aug. 25, at a meet-and-greet for the artist at the North Quabbin Recovery Center at 416 Main St. from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

According to the artist, the sculpture “Holding Space” is made of prescription bottles, syringes and photographs of people affected by the opioid crisis.

“My art is the way I voice my opinion of Big Pharma’s part in this epidemic and the money they made from perpetuating one of the causes of this crisis and a call for them to provide financial support to recovery centers, education, and early prevention programs in our towns, cities and across the nation,” she said.

“Holding Space” will be displayed at the Massachusetts Overdose Awareness Vigil in Boston later this month.
