Playing from the behind to start the second half, the Mahar junior varsity girls basketball team battled back to beat Greenfield 52-51 on the road on Monday.
With 10 seconds to play Haylee Allen drew contact to get to the free throw line for the Senators.
Allen went 1-for-2 to seal the win for Mahar, who finished 13-5 this season.
Mahar went into the fourth quarter up a point against the Green Wave.
Ava Liberty had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Allen filled the stat sheet with 13 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Sienna Moore (10 points), Makayla Mathurin (six points) and Natalie Apteker (four points) all contributed offensively.
Belchertown 54, Mahar 37 – The Orioles hit five 3-pointer in the first quarter and the Senators could not make up the difference in a home loss on February 13th.
Mahar trailed 32-11 at halftime.
Abby Henne scored 14 points while Natalie Belloli and Allen both added five points for the Senators.
Athol 68, Mohawk 47 – A strong first quarter for Manny O’Lari helped the Red Raiders get a home win on Monday.
O’Lari scored eight of his 11 points in the opening frame and went on to play varsity minutes later on in the night.
Connor Mahony had a nice rhythm going from deep, hitting four 3-pointers and finishing with 14 points for the Red Raiders.
Christian Casillas and Jack Bonenfant scored eight points for Athol.
On Tuesday night, the Red Raiders closed out their season with 75-31 loss to Frontier Regional.
Athol’s final record was 6-14.
Narragansett 55, Athol 33 – Bonenfant scored 10 points in a road loss on Valentine’s Day for the Red Raiders.
Christian Casillas added eight points for Athol, with Casey Mason and Mahony both adding five each.
