The upcoming schedule dates are: Friday, March 6 and 20; April 3, 17 and 25. Volunteers work from 9 a.m. to noon.

New England Forestry Foundation seeks volunteers

ORANGE — If you enjoy walking in the woods and have some time to volunteer, we want you.

For the past 75 years, New England Forestry Foundation has demonstrated that well-managed working forests can provide multiple benefits for landowners and the community. In that time, the foundation has conserved over 1.1 million acres throughout New England with more than 29,000 acres of that land in its ownership. To help monitor some of that land, we recruit volunteer forest stewards. Our stewards act as the eyes and ears on the ground. Some of their responsibilities include maintaining trails, monitoring boundaries, interacting with the community, and general surveillance of the property.

Interested? Well, there is a New England Forestry Foundation forest near that is in need of a steward — the 240-acre Hosmer Woods/Webb Memorial Forest is in Orange. If you are interested in volunteering to be a steward for this amazing property, the first step is to fill out an online application by visiting https://newenglandforestry.org/support/volunteer/.
