Nov. 15: Nipmuc storyteller in
Petersham on Zoom

The rich cultural history of the local Nipmuc Indigenous tribe will be shared through story and Native American teachings by Larry “Spotted Crow” Mann in a program titled “When the Land Speaks” on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. through an online Zoom conference call platform. The free program will explore the dynamic relationship between land, people and nature through the eyes of the Native Americans of New England. Funding for the program came from the Petersham Cultural Council and is sponsored by the University of the Wild, a special project of the Wild Earth Institute, Inc. and its new Sustainable Petersham Project.

Nov. 18: Town to hold Lake Ellis meeting

ATHOL — A public meeting to discuss potential strategies of improving the water quality of Lake Ellis is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18, starting at 6:30 p.m. The discussion will be conducted via Zoom. Nov. 21: Electronics and appliances recycle day

ATHOL — Residents from all towns are welcome to recycle their electronics and appliances on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Saint Francis of Assisi, 101 Main St., Athol. Masks are required for everyone. The event will take place rain or shine; cash and personal checks accepted. There are small fees. Nov. 21: Bicycle Recycle Day

Bring your unwanted old or new bicycle and drop it off; it will be reused again. Mountain, Road, BMX, Cruiser, (old to current)/New, Kids, etc.

Our aim is to keep bikes from being thrown out when they can be reused. We can pick up bicycles if you cannot get them there.
