ATHOL – The winter parking ban is now in effect and will remain in effect until April 1, between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Residents in the areas surrounding the municipal parking lots off Exchange Street and at Walnut and Canal streets may purchase an overnight parking permit to coincide with the parking ban.
The cost is $5 for one vehicle and free for veterans with a valid DD214. The permits are only valid for designated parking spaces which are marked by signage and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no individually-assigned parking spaces. See Bridget in the Selectboard office for the policy and application.
