ORANGE—The Mahar Middle School girls’ basketball team went into Friday afternoon’s game with the goal of achieving a perfect league record and completed the task, defeating Hopkins Academy, 37-19.
Mahar finished the year 15-2 overall and 15-0 in league play.
Ava Liberty led the team with a game-high 13 points, adding 11 rebounds and five steals. Natalie Belloli and Haylee Allen scored four points each, while Kaylee Murphy scored three points. Shalee Dennis, Julianna Herbert, Sienna Moore, Natalie Apteker and Kendra Doane scored two points each. Ava Melanson scored one point for Mahar, while Moore and Taylor Soucie led the team’s defensive efforts.
