PETERSHAM — Therapist-neuro-physio Josef DellaGrotte, PhD, will present “Battleground of the Surgical Rehab Republic” at the Petersham Unitarian service in the Davis Center, 3 West St. on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments and discussion will follow the presentation.
“An estimated 1 million or more Americans age 55 and up have been and predictably will have more than a million major joint surgeries every year, all for the sake of improving ‘quality of life.’ But do these surgeries accomplish their goal?” asks DellaGrotte, “The missing piece in this painful rehab process is that success is not guaranteed.”
DelleGrotte will demonstrate how to prevent injury and explain how a lack of body management skills preparation can contribute to later problems. “Based on statistics, Americans can expect an average of 9.5 surgical interventions in a lifetime. On Sunday, I will present an examination of our wondrous, ‘barbaric’ practices from a patient’s, as well as from a professional’s, direct experience,” he said.
Dr. DellaGrotte is the author of “Instructions from Within” (2007) and “Awaken Movement-The Key to Life” (2016), available on Amazon. For further information, check out www.dellagrotte-somatic.com.
