BARRE — Auditions for the Barre Players’ upcoming “A Christmas Carol” have been announced.
The play opens in November. Auditions are for actors age 17 and older and are by appointment only.
“A Christmas Carol” is a fresh stage adaptation by Patrick Barlow of the timeless Charles Dickens story at the Barre Players Theater at 64 Common St.

Available audition times are Friday, Aug. 17, (6:30 to 9 p.m.), Saturday, Aug. 18, (10:30 to 2 p.m.), Friday, Aug. 24 (6:30 to 9 p.m.), Sunday, Aug. 26 (6 to 9:30 p.m.), or other times by request.
No preparation is required. Auditions will include cold readings from the script. Director Diana Canterbury notes, “We encourage diversity in casting and welcome everyone to audition. This production will provide an exceptional creative opportunity for five gifted and versatile actors (three males and two females, age 17 and older).”
One actor plays Scrooge throughout the show and the other four actors each play multiple characters.

Patrick Barlow, writer of the Broadway and West End hit “The 39 Steps,” has retold “A Christmas Carol,” a Charles Dickens holiday classic.
