For a few moments, Jordan Desrosiers was the only person at the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Desrosiers was the lone North Quabbin representative at the Western Mass. All-Star Game at the Basketball Hall of Fame on March 22.
When the announcer called his name at the beginning of the game, the lights were turned off at Jerry Colangelo Court in Springfield.
The rest of his team was in the dark and the fans were in the dark.
In the darkness, Desrosiers had a spotlight on him as he stood on the Hall of Fame logo in the middle of the court for a photo opportunity. Prior to his introduction, a contingent of Mahar Regional fans assembled near the baseline near the entrance to the Hall of Fame gift shop.
During his introduction, he got the loudest cheer from his small group of well-traveled fans. The group included family and friends with “Team Jordan” shirts made to show their support.
On the very first possession of the game for Team Red, Desrosiers launched and made a deep 3-pointer. His fanbase loved it as Team Red went on to win the game with Desrosiers scoring 15 points.
Desrosiers will play AAU basketball during the spring and has plans to play in college.
