The U.S. Postal Service will issue a first-class rate forever stamp on March 4 depicting golfer Arnold Palmer. This will feature a portrait of the iconic golf pro.
Orlando, Fla. is the official first day city for this self-adhesive, which will be issued in panes of 20 stamps.
A sports card and coin show will be held March 1 at the Boys and Girls Club of Chicopee at 580 Meadow St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free off-street parking, but a small admission charge.
Door prizes are drawn every hour. The show will be moving to a new location for the April edition.
The 2019 flag forever coil stamp has been discovered in a version without perforations between the stamps. According to Linn’s Stamp News, a woman in Illinois brought the stamps back to the post office where she purchased them, complaining that she could not easily separate them.
An alert collector on the spot purchased the stamps from her, and asked the postal clerk to check the other stamps of that variety to see of there were any other imperforate ones. One roll of 100 stamps was found that way, but the clerk refused to sell it to the collector.
The only other errors found on stamps issued in 2019 were perforation omission errors on the U.S.S. Missouri and George H.W. Bush commemorative stamps.
Collectors suffering from the winter blues could make an hour’s drive from the North Quabbin region on a Sunday to check out two indoor flea markets located west of Nashua, N.H. Both venues have a snack bar, and are open through the month of March.
One is located at the Milford Athletic Club on Emerson Road, the last right off of Route 13 northbound before the Route 101 on ramp. This show has free admission after 9:30 a.m., but admission fees before that time.
It features a mix of antiques and collectibles dealers with quality small items. Dealers begin packing up by noontime, so it is definitely a morning event.
The other event is held at the Brookline Auction Gallery, on Route 130 in Brookline. This has free admission all day long. A few of the dealers here set up outside if the weather permits.
The offerings at this event include antiques and collectibles, with somewhat lower prices than the other event.
