WINCHENDON — Make the most of your May with some fun, free movies. Each month, the Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon hosts a few indoor film events, showing a variety of movies new and old, fit for varying ages.

Here’s what’s playing this month:

On Thursday, May 19, at 6 p.m., the library will be screening the coming-of-age comedy-drama, “Licorice Pizza.” Set in the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s, the film stars Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman, telling the story of a young couple growing up and navigating the ups and downs of first love.

On Wednesday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m., the library will be showing the 1969 film, “Midnight Cowboy,” for this month’s Classic Movie Matinee. Starring Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, and Sylvia Miles, this buddy drama follows Joe Buck, a young man who travels from Texas to New York to seek personal fortune as a sex worker, and forms an unlikely friendship with a con artist in the process.

All movie screenings at the library are free and open to the public. Bring some popcorn and come and enjoy the show!
