WESTFIELD – The Greenfield Post 81 Juniors saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night.

Host Westfield Post 124 halted the spree with a 4-2 win in an American Legion Junior Division contest at Bullens Field.

It was Greenfield’s first loss since June 18. Post 81, which fell to 7-3 overall, hadn’t played a game since June 30 when it swept Westfield in a doubleheader.

Westfield (3-7) pushed single runs across in the first and second innings, but Post 81 tied it with a two-spot in the top of the third. Austin D’Urso roped an RBI single in the frame, and eventually scored to tie the game 2-2 when Conner Bergeron ripped an RBI single of his own.

Westfield reclaimed the lead with two runs in the home half of the third, taking a 4-2 lead that it would not relinquish.

Bergeron went 2-for-3 to pace the Greenfield offense, while Cody Yetter added a double and Grayson Bishop singled and scored a run.

Arthur Fitzpatrick tossed three innings, taking the loss on the bump for Greenfield with five strikeouts to go against one walk and six hits. Aiden Shea pitched well in relief, tossing three scoreless innings with one walk and three hits allowed to keep Post 81 within striking distance down the stretch.

Next up is another road game on Thursday when Post 81 travels to play at West Springfield (5:45 p.m.). The team’s next home game is Saturday against Belchertown (1 p.m.).
