Bulletin Board: Maniatty’s takes Game 1 over Gilmore & Farrell in GMLB Majors Division final

In the opening game of the Greenfield Minor League Baseball Majors World Series, Conner Bergeron struck out 18 while adding a hit and a run at the plate, and Xaviay Reynolds also had a hit and a run to lift Maniatty’s to a 2-1 victory over Gilmore and Farrell on Tuesday at Lunt Field. 

Desmond Drake pitched and scattered just five hits for Gilmore and Farrell. Drake added a hit and an RBI while Casey Burke had a single and a run in the loss. 

■ Jackson Baker secured a strike out with the bases loaded to lift Pioneer Valley Tire to a 5-4 GMLB AAA playoff win over Rotary Club on Tuesday. 

Fischer Williams knocked two hits while Xavier Woodard and Ben Woodard doubled for Pioneer Valley. Fred Burnap pitched and had a hit at the plate, Brady Selivanoff recorded two hits and Mason Deome reached base three times for Rotary. 

Youth softball

GGSL

Kalina Pease drove in two runs in the top of the sixth to lift Descavich Plumbing to a 10-9 win over Greenfield Garden Cinema on Monday in a GGSL Ponytail playoff game. 

Kyra Tamsin and Bailey Cusson each had two hits, Ella Rotkiewicz singled and doubled while Haddie Connelley added a hit and Charlie Bishop struck out six in the win. 

Greta Lepore struck out 11 while Savannah Brown, Maisie Miller, Izzy Allen, Nali Monserate and Kayla Gruzkowski hit safely for Greenfield Garden.

• In the semifinals on Tuesday, Bishop struck out 12 and got a grand slam from Tamsin to help Descavich advance to the championship game against Triton Automotive with a 17-2 win over Pipione’s Sport Shop. 

Pease doubled in the win. Samantha Suhl struck out eight, Charlie Lovett added two strikeouts while Suhl had the lone hit for Pipione’s. 

Golf

Edge Hill

Brett Sallee finished with the top point quota of plus-3, followed by Bill Buck with a plus-2 in the A Division of the Edge Hill Men’s League at the Edge Hill Golf Course on Tuesday. 

Buck shot the low gross (38) while Sallee had the low net (32). In the B Division Jon Sonntag had the top point quota (plus-4) followed by Charlie Plesnar (plus-2). Sonntag shot the low gross (45) while Tom Miner had the low net (35).

In closest to the pin Junior Rivera won on No. 10 (28 feet) and Sallee won on No. 16 (15-3). 

CCG

Annie Lasek, Marley Balasco, Nancy Donoghue and Susan Luippold shot the low score of 32 in a scramble in the 9 Hole Women’s League at the Country Club of Greenfield on Tuesday. 

Susan Plante, Ellen Bitzer, Betty Graves and Barb Knapp finished in second (35) while Liz Archer, Jess Lapachinski, Lisa Sullivan and Angie Bergquist came in third (36). 

■ In a Member Guest Championship at CCG Will Conant and Jeff Jackman placed first after posting the low gross of 65. 

Ryan Cote and Dennis Booska tied with the pairings of Connor Piecuch and Thane Schinabeck and Mike Archer and Mike Johnson for second (69). In net scoring Steven Patenaude and Jamie Fusco took first (61), Jeff Collura and Brian Knowles placed second (63) and Rich Clark and Aaron Campbell came in third (64). 

■ In the Kells Fundraiser at CCG, the foursome of Tom Schneider, Gordon Parker, Barb Killeen and Jess Lapachinski shot the low gross of 61. 

Roy Emerson, Susan O’Connor, Margo Worden and Bob Perkins tied with Richard Rockstroh, Ernie Patnode, Richard Howe, Doug Finck and Alane Smith for second (62). William McDonald, Gail Miller, Randall Bernard, Dianne Wood and Sue McDonald tied with Teresa Varner, Bob Welsh, Rocky Barbuto, Susan Parker and Donna Mowry for fourth (64). 

Adult softball

Greenfield co-ed

Kyle Kazeroid knocked five hits, Parker Hickey and Cheyenne Dufresne each had four hits while Trevor Mankowsky tallied three hits to lead Thayer Street Builders to a 21-14 win over the Montague Elks on Tuesday in a Greenfield co-ed adult softball game. 

John Dawicki had four hits while Kyle Bergman and Dylan Mailloux each had three hits for the Elks. 

• Also on Tuesday, Tyler Leroux had four hits while Tim Anderson, Dustin Olson, Ashley Parker and Tom Anderson each had three hits in RG Penfield’s 16-12 win over the Liberty Tax Sharks. 

Jade Cuevas, Damon Blake, Peter Magbalensky and Emma Daley each had three hits in the loss.
