Bulletin Board: Northfield Summer Road Race gets underway

The Northfield Summer Road Race Series kicked off its campaign on Thursday, with Isaac Bingham winning the race with a time of 20 minutes, 23 seconds on the 3.1 mile course. 

Marcy Cabanas took second (21:22) followed by Alex Scotera (21:31), William Thomas (22:52) and August Bingham (23:05). Eighteen runners and four walkers participated.

This is the 14th season of the road race series. The race takes place every Thursday starting and finishing at 105 Main Street in Northfield. The cost is $5 per runner with $10 max per family. Walkers are welcome and can choose a shorter distance.

Jamie Deery and Mike Hickey tied for first (6) while Bob Walker, Steve Russo and Mike McCarthy tied for second (5) in the Knights of Columbus League at Thomas Memorial Wednesday. 

Brian Cocco won closest to the pin on No. 7 (four feet, 11 inches) and McCarthy won on No. 9 (11-2). Bob Bourbeau, Frank Penny, McCarthy and Pete McDonough won skins and Bourbeau and McCarthy had the low gross.

The Tri-County Baseball League kicked off this week, with TFAC taking down Teddy Bear Pools, 9-6, behind three hits and a strong performance on the mound from Marshall Ingram.

Franklin First 5, Pristine Orientals 2 — Lily Melissa Beckwith and Grace Hickey pitched while Sierra Lively had three hits and an RBI in Franklin First’s win Thursday. 

Adrianna Peters had three hits and pitched while Lilly Sadowsky pitched for Pristine. 

Pipione’s Sport Shop 0, Sandri 0 — Aniese Williams had two hits while Willow Bettencourt hit safely in Pipione’s tie on Thursday. 

Alivia Griffith had two hits and Kinslee Gebo-Lutenegger hit safely for Sandri.
