Girls basketball: Kendrah Doane pours in 37 points as Mahar routs PV Christian in Div. 4 prelims

A hot start set the tone for what was a dominant outing for the Mahar girls basketball team on Tuesday.
The 26th-seeded Senators stormed out to a 25-8 lead after one quarter and didn’t look back, blasting past No. 39 Pioneer Valley Christian 69-39 in an MIAA Division 4 Tournament preliminary round contest in Orange.
Mahar (12-9) advanced to the Round of 32, where it will travel to play at No. 7 Littleton (15-5) on Friday at 6 p.m.
Kendrah Doane had a career night for the Senators, pouring in a game-high 38 points, including six 3-pointers. Doane hit four 3’s in the first quarter alone, scoring 15 of her 38 in the opening eight minutes to help Mahar take the early advantage.
Alivia Patch followed with 14 points for the Sens, which led 38-22 at halftime. Hayden Comeau and Nevaeh added six points apiece.
Newt Guilbault registration
Registration for the Newt Guilbault Youth Baseball League is underway.
Registration runs until March 11, with registration done online or printed out and mailed to PO Box 189, Turners Falls, MA 01376.

Practices begin in April, with games running through May and June. The league takes players age 5-12, with players split into leagues based on age level.

Montague Co-ed registration
Montague Parks & Recreation is accepting inquiries for adult softball teams interested in restarting the Montague Adult Co-ed Softball League. Montague’s league is ASA sanctioned and the intent is for the league to be fully officiated with umpires.
Team registration is $650. The season runs from May through August, with games held on Monday and Thursday evenings. The league meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m.
