Bulletin board: Jaiden Lapointe HR helps Booska’s Flooring to Game 1 win in Newt Guilbault championship series

Jaiden Lapointe had two hits, including a two-run home run to center field, while Tyler Newton and Julian Bowden-Smith each had two hits and an RBI to send Booska’s Flooring to a 7-4 win over Turners Falls Athletic Club in Game 1 of the best-of-three Newt Guilbault League championship series on Tuesday.

TFAC’s Chase Greene went 2-for-3 with a double and Tyler Girard added a hit and two RBIs.

Game 2 is set for Wednesday night.

GMLB

Sean Winslow came on in relief and threw three shutout innings, allowing just one hit, to help lead New Fortune to a 9-7 victory over Smitty’s Pub in a AAA first-round playoff game Tuesday.

Winslow also knocked in what ended up being the winning run in the bottom of the fifth as part of a three-hit night. Kaydin Snow-Rose had a hit and three runs scored and Blake Grover had an RBI base hit for New Fortune.

Smitty’s was lead by Adriane Lopez, who had three hits including two doubles, and Preston Charboneau who had a double and a triple. Philip Brodeur had two hits for Smitty’s.

In other AAA playoff action Tuesday, Rotary beat Bobby C’s, 11-6, thanks to three hits apiece from Fred Burnap and Christian Powell, and a two-hit night from Brock Puchalski (double, triple).

Bobby C’s was led by Damien Shields (double, run), Elias Tripp (single, run) and Eli Skinder (double, pitched well in relief).

Elsewhere in the AAA playoffs, Denny’s Pantry took down Aubuchon Hardware, 13-3, behind a pair of triples from Quest Peterson and two doubles and a single from Andrew Gardner. Ben Trombley also had two hits, while Joseph Gardner doubled and Tommy Shivone and Kent Warner each had a hit.

Aubuchon’s Michael Dixon singled and tripled, while Jacob Miller and Zuri Wing each doubled. Liam Bassett also had two hits.

In a AA playoff game on Monday, Orion Lindemann knocked six RBIs and Gage Sheldon recorded three hits in Ginger Cat Sealcoating’s 15-5 win over Baker Financial. 

Jake Bedouin and Abraham Walker combined for six hits in the loss. 

Junior Legion

William Ainsworth knocked two hits and drove in a pair of runs and Caleb Thomas doubled in Greenfield Post 81 Junior Legion’s 10-0 win over Longmeadow Post 175 on Monday. 

Logan Moore allowed one hit and struck out eight in the victory. 

Golf

CCG Women’s League

In a first three, last three competition in the 9 Hole Women’s League at the Country Club of Greenfield on Tuesday, Annie Lasek came in first in the Patty Berg Flight with a score of 27. 

Marley Balasco won the Nancy Lopez Flight (30), Ellen Bitzer took the Joanna Carner Flight (31), Dawn Bete and Betty Graves tied for first in the Lorena Ochoa Flight, Danica Hochstetler took the Annika Sorenstom Flight (32) and Maggie Valentine won the Michele Wie Flight (30). 

Also on Tuesday at CCG Elizabeth Dolby carded the low gross of 62 in a Best 14 Holes contest in the 18 Hole Women’s League. 

Ann McHugh shot the low net (50). Diane Bradford had the low gross in Flight Two (68) while Irene McDonald had the low net (47). 

Edge Hill Men’s League

Bret Bourman’s plus-6 quota topped the A Division on Tuesday, while Junior Rivera was next at plus-3. Bill Buck had low net (38) and Bourman carded the low net (30).

In the B Division, Jamie Bishop led the way with a plus-5 quota, with Jim Small and Jon Sonntag next at plus-2. Bishop (42) had the low gross and Jonathan George posted low net (31).

Buck was closest to the pin at No. 3 (13-0) and Small was closest at No. 8 (10-10).

Soccer

PVSSL

Chanhee Son scored twice while Gus Radner found the back of the net in Frontier’s 3-0 win over Ludlow B on Monday. 

Chanmin Son and Ben Cachiguango each had an assist while Colin Holt made seven saves in the victory. 

Youth softball

GGSL

Adie Abercrombie and Makenna Ward each had four hits in Gilmore and Farrell’s 11-10 win over Pristine Oriental on Monday. 

Evelyn Bailey scored three times and Layla Bailey had four hits for Pristine. 

■ Bella Trinque had two hits while Ainsley Martin, Hayden Brechenser and Lenyx White each had a hit in Triton Automotive’s 16-9 win over Descavich Plumbing on Monday. 

Kendra Steiner had two hits while Haddie Connelley, Ella Rotkiewicz and Ameliya Galbraith hit safely in the loss. 

Athol/Orange

Vera Cruz pitched while Libby Adams, Olivia Bishop, Sadie Gauthier and Annabell Santana had hits as Athol/Orange TD Bank earned an 8-5 win over Templeton on Monday.
