It was another successful Greenfield Tennis Cup, as the event, sponsored by The Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters and The Greenfield Tennis Association, was held on Saturday at the Beacon Clay Courts.

Dave Reading won the men's division title with 17 games won, while Brian Lempel came in second place, also winning 17 games. Reading beat Lempel head-to-head to secure the title.

In the women's division, Meghan Huber won the championship with 12 victories. There was a three-way tie for second place, and Linda Quain won the tiebreaker against Francie Garanin and Genni Garanin.

CCG Friday Night Mixer

Roy and TC Emerson fired the low gross of 35 at the Country Club of Greenfield’s Friday Night Mixer.

John and Teresa Varner were second with a 36.

Low net went to Mike Covey and Diane Carme (33), followed by Anthony Wonseski and Elizabeth Dolby (34).

Monadnock results

Cory Plummer won the biggest race of his career Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H., leading the last 86 laps of the 100-lap NHSTRA Modified main event before a huge crowd at the storied high-banked oval.

Plummer and his Apex Racing open-wheeler took the lead from Geoff Rollins on lap 14, and never looked back en route to victory.

Chris Buffone took charge on lap 14 of the NHSTRA Late Model feature and darted off to his first victory of the summer on the high banks. In a tune-up for next week’s Teddy Bear Pools Triple Crown 50-lapper, Buffone was impressive. Rookie JD Stockwell kept a cool head to earn the runner-up finish.
