ATHOL- A home on Glendale Avenue which was badly damaged by a fire two weeks ago has been demolished, according to Athol Fire Chief Jeffrey Parker.

The resident of the home sustained injuries from a fall following the fire and was transported to an area hospital, according to the chief. He was released the following day. Parker said he was unsure of the resident’s current living situation but confirmed that he has been relocated and is staying elsewhere.

The fire, which was reported the evening of Feb. 14, left the 1½-story house fully engulfed in flames. According to the Athol Fire Department, fire crews from multiple surrounding towns responded to the scene. They quickly brought the majority of the fire under control and then worked to extinguish the remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire that destroyed the home remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to Parker.
