H.S. Roundup: Greenfield softball erupts for 17 hits, three homers in big win over Frontier (PHOTOS)

The hits came early and often for the Greenfield softball team on Thursday against Frontier.
The Green Wave finished the game with 17 hits, three of which were home runs, while scoring six runs in the first inning and tacking seven on in the second. In the circle, MacKenzie Paulin tossed a five-inning no hitter, striking out 10 along the way as Greenfield earned a 21-0 Franklin County League West win in South Deerfield.
Paulin had one of those home runs and added a double as well while driving in three runs, Amber Bergeron cracked a home run, a single and drove in two runs while Rachel Dodge also homered, singled and brought in four runs for the Green Wave.
Ainslee Flynn had four hits, one a double, and knocked in three runs, Anna Bucala singled, doubled and had an RBI, Gloria McDonald finished with two hits and an RBI, Ivy Rae had a hit that brought in three runs, Abigail Ortiz recorded a hit and two RBIs and Brielle Widelo hit safely in the win.
Liv Machon struck out three for the Redhawks.
Franklin Tech 14, Mahar 2 (5) — The Eagles put 11 runs on the board in the first inning to pull away with a Franklin County League East win over the Senators in Turners Falls on Thursday.
Kylee Gamache tallied a pair of hits and RBIs in the win. Lilly Ross and Hannah Gilbert each knocked a hit and and two RBIs, Kait Trudeau, Kyra Goodell and Mercedes Selivanoff each recorded a hit and an RBI, Katy Lengieza finished with two hits, Shelby O’Leary tripled, Cordelia Guerin and Gianna DiSciullo each hit safely while Kendra Campbell brought in a run for Franklin Tech.
Ross got the win in the circle, striking out six.

Turners 6, Wahconah 0 — Turners ace Madi Liimatainen continues to be a problem for opposing lineups.
The sophomore tossed a no-hitter on Thursday, striking out 15 and surrendering just five walks as Turners earned a Franklin County League West win in Dalton on Thursday.
Morgan Dobias cracked two hits, one a double, and drove in a run, Holly Myers knocked a hit and an RBI, Janelle Massey tallied two hits, Addison Talbot had two hits including a double, Marilyn Abarua hit safely while Madisyn Dietz and Liimatainen each had an RBI for the Thunder.
Turners 7, Mohawk Trail 1 — Dylan Shinall went the distance on the hill for the Thunder, striking out eight and scattering six hits to lead Turners to a Bi-County League North win over the visiting Warriors on Thursday.
Alex Quezada had a big game at the plate for the Thunder, knocking two singles, two doubles and bringing in a run. Jackson Cogswell smashed three hits and brought in a run and Cam Burnett tallied two hits and an RBI.
Joey Mosca brought in a run and singled, Kainen Stevens doubled while Mario Paraeja and Deven Sloan singled for Turners.
Deven Buchanan led the way with two hits for Mohawk Trail while Oliver Johnson, Grady Patenaude, Noah Sprague and Brady Gancarz each hit safely. Logan Moore struck out four in the loss.
Franklin Tech 2, McCann Tech 1 — Kyle Begos pitched a gem for the Eagles on Thursday, going six innings and striking out four as Tech needed just two second-inning runs to pull out an independent win over the visiting Hornets.
“Can’t say enough about our pitching,” Eagles coach Dan Prasol said. “Kyle stepped in and has kept us in games.”
Alex Sulda came on to get the save for Tech. Sam Knight, Begos and Jack Gancarz each tallied a hit for the Eagles, Gancarz knocking in a run while Sulda hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Ben Dodge for the two Franklin tech runs.
Hampshire 9, Athol 6 — Shea Brennan and James Williams each cracked doubles for the Bears in a Suburban League West loss to the Raiders in Westhampton on Thursday.
Marc Gould, Riley Young and Anthony Lopez each added a hit for Athol.
Smith Voke 12, Mahar 0 — James Lavallee limited the Sens to five hits, with the Vikings scoring four in the first, one in the third, two in the fifth and five in the seventh to pull away with an independent win over host Mahar on Thursday.
Sam Connors, Lucas Isrow, Nate Danielson, Matt Vitello and David Vitello each hit safely for the Senators.
Mahar 103, Franklin Tech 42 — Dom Whitman won the long jump (19 feet), high jump (5-4) and the 100 (11 seconds) while Mitchell Krasco took the triple jump (29-2.5), the 110 hurdles (17.5) and the 400 (58.0) to help lift the Senators to a win over the Eagles in Turners on Thursday.
Other Mahar winners were Jayden Dicato in the shot put (31-9.5), Xander Roberts in the javelin (114-11), Peter Frost in the mile (5:34), David Phelps in the 400 hurdles (75.4), Marshall Ames in the 800 (2:29) and Jeff LaPlante in the 2 mile (13:23). The Sens won the 4x400 relay (4:20.7).
For Franklin Tech Athli Gonzalez took the discus (78-7) and Cam Candelaria won the 200 (24.0). The Eagles won the 4x100 relay (47.6).
Frontier 111, Mohawk Trail 31 — Alex Schreiber won the shot put (35-1) and the discus (107-3), Ian Burt took the long jump (18-4.5) and the triple jump (38-3.5) while Erich Brown won the high jump (6-0) and the 400 hurdles (69.0) as the Redhawks picked up a win against the visiting Warriors on Thursday.
Rounding out the Frontier winners were Aiden Dredge in the javelin (143-10), Adrien Pazmandy in the pole vault (9-0), Ben Cachiguango in the 110 hurdles (16.5) and the 200 (23.9), Fernando Saravia in the 100 (11.9) and the 400 (55.1), Luke Howard in the mile (4:50.8) and Evan Hedlund in the 2 mile (10:15.7).
The Redhawks won the 4x100 (46.8) relay.
Mohawk Trail’s Emmett Johnson won the 800 (2:00.1) while the Warriors won the 4x400 relay (3:58.3).
Mahar 83, Turners 53 — Nevaeh Scribner took the long jump (14-5) and the 100 (13.1), Thea Whitmore picked up wins in the triple jump (25-1) and the 400 (76.0) while Stellina Moore came out on top in the shot put (22-11.5) and the high jump (4-6) as the Senators defeated the host Thunder on Thursday.
Shea Woods won the javelin (71-7), Ava Dejackame came in first in the 100 hurdles (22.7) and the 400 hurdles (91.0) and Sophia Woods took the mile (7:06) for Mahar. The Senators won the 4x100 (59.4) and 4x400 (5:20) relays.
For Turners, Jaade Duncan won the discus (62-4), Raygan Pendriss came in first in the 2 mile (14:56.1), Charlotte Canterbury took the 800 (3:10) and Jazzlyn Gonzalez took first in the 200 (30.0).
Frontier 99, Mohawk Trail 45 — Abigail Howard and Caroline Crocker each won a trio of events for the Redhawks, with Howard taking first in the high jump (4-6), the mile (5:55.4) and the 800 (2:46.3) while Crocker won the long jump (15-5.5), the 200 (28.1) and the 100 hurdles (15.72) as Frontier stayed unbeaten in dual meets with a victory over the Warriors on Thursday in South Deerfield.
Other winners for Frontier were Micky McCarthy in the shot put (30-0), Ayla Starr in the pole vault (9-6), Claire McFarland in the 400 (67.63) and Bianca Peura in the 2 mile (13:45). The Redhawks won the 4x100 (54.9) and 4x400 (4:46.6) relays.
For Mohawk Trail Morgan Raffa won the discus (80-8) and javelin (92-6), Emmy Sisum took the triple jump (30-0.25) and the 400 hurdles (74.2) and Zephyr Jetson came in first in the 100 (13.8).
Frontier 3, Sci-Tech 0 — Owen Babb tallied eight kills while Aleks Carey and Brady Burch each put down five kills as the Redhawks picked up win No. 12 on the year with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-18 triumph over the CyberCats in Springfield on Thursday.
Tavo Vincent-Warner distributed 21 assists while Jesse Kurkulonis and Asa Jackson contributed three kills in the victory.
Greenfield 3, Mohawk Trail 2 — The Green Wave pulled out both doubles matches while Izzy Semonelli earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles over Warrior Lauryn Lovett to propel Greenfield to a 3-2 win over Mohawk Trail in Buckland on Thursday.
The pairing of Lily Duong and Jessica Mihailicenco picked up a 6-4, 6-3 triumph in No. 1 doubles over Yaseen Abdelgawad and Ivan Hillenbrand while Emy-Elis Iavorschi and Amy Mihailicenco earned a 6-4, 6-0 win in No. 2 doubles for the Green Wave.
Paige King pulled out a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles over Kaitlyn Collins while Hazel Foucault knocked off Mireb Gheorghita 6-4, 6-3 in No. 2 singles for the Warriors.
Turners 5, Chicopee 0 — In a match played to an eight-game pro set, the Thunder pulled out a 5-0 sweep over the visiting Pacers on Thursday.
Steph Peterson earned an 8-3 win in No. 1 singles, Maria LaBelle fought to an 8-7 (9-7) win in No. 2 singles while Olivia Wolbach walked away with an 8-5 triumph in No. 3 singles for Turners.
Holly Hicks and Jill Reynolds took No. 1 doubles, 8-6, while Avery Heathwaite and Sam Carr won 8-4 in No. 2 doubles.
PVCICS 5, Frontier 0 — Harry Wright and Donovan Vichi had the top match of the day for the Redhawks, falling 6-4, 10-5 in No. 2 doubles as Frontier lost to the Dragons on Thursday.
