H.S. Roundup: Hampshire baseball scores nine runs in final two innings to defeat Greenfield (PHOTOS)

The Greenfield and Hampshire baseball teams were tied 5-5 heading into the fifth inning Wednesday, but the host Raiders took over the game from that point.
Hampshire put five runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth and tacked four more runs on in the sixth to walk away with a 14-5 Suburban League West win in Westhampton.
John Marchefka led the way with a pair of hits and RBIs at the plate for the Green Wave. Deven Dubie and Caleb Thomas each added a hit while Thomas and Preston Lafleur pitched for Greenfield in the loss.
Pioneer 8, Turners 0 — The Panthers will enter the Western Mass. Class D tournament without a loss on their record.
Pioneer did all its damage in the first inning on Wednesday against the Thunder, scoring eight runs in the opening frame to walk away with a Bi-County League North victory in Northfield.
The win means the Panthers close out the regular season with a 16-0 record.
“I told the kids not everyone has a chance to go undefeated,” Pioneer coach Kevin Luippold said. “They put on a show tonight. This is something they’ll remember for the rest of their lives, especially the seniors. The job isn’t finished just yet but doing this in the regular season is a great accolade. I’m proud of the guys.”
Hugh Cyhowski went the distance on the mound for the Panthers, scattering five hits, striking out 13 and not surrendering a walk. Ethan Quinn blasted a single and a double that combined to drive in three runs, Cyhowski helped himself with a pair of hits and an RBI, Braeden Tsipenyuk, Ian Simpson, Ethan Mauthe and Ben Werner each had a hit and an RBI while Alex McClelland hit safely in the victory.

Franklin Tech 12, Pathfinder 2 (5) — The Eagles put up nine runs in the second, with Kyle Begos smashing a grand slam to break the game open, leading to an independent five-inning win for Franklin Tech in Turners on Wednesday.
Begos added a single in the win, with Nate Fuess cracking a pair of hits and Jack Gancarz getting the second-inning rally going with a single for the Eagles. Alex Sulda pitched four scoreless innings in the victory.
Mahar 17, Smith Academy 7 (5) — The Sens put five runs up in the third before exploding for seven runs in the fifth to walk away with a five-inning Bi-County League North win over the Falcons in Hatfield on Wednesday.
Lucas Isrow went off for four hits, one a triple, and brought in three runs for Mahar. Will Barnes tallied two singles and a triple while driving in three runs, David Vitello singled, tripled and brought in a run, Jeremy Vezina knocked a hit and recorded three RBIs while Sam Connors, Milo Troisi, Tristan Ga j and Matt Vitello each had a hit and an RBI in the victory.
Connors got the win on the mound, striking out six.
Frontier 3, East Longmeadow 0 — Brady Burch smashed 10 kills, Aleks Carey tallied nine kills and Jesse Kurkulonis put down seven kills in the Redhawks’ 25-21, 25-14, 25-12 sweep of the Lancers in East Longmeadow on Wednesday.
Jack Carey recorded three kills, Owen Babb had a pair of kills while Tavo Vincent-Warner distributed 28 assists in the victory for Frontier.
Granby 3, Athol 0 — The Rams earned a 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 win over the Bears in Athol on Wednesday.
Mohawk Trail 3, Chicopee 2 — The Warriors took all three singles matches to knock off the Pacers in Chicopee on Wednesday.
Palmer King earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles, Paige King walked away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 2 singles while Hazel Foucault finished with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph in No. 3 singles for Mohawk Trail.
Turners 4, Renaissance 1 — The Thunder swept singles and earned a win in No. 2 doubles to defeat Renaissance on Tuesday in Turners.
Steph Peterson walked away with a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles, Maria Labelle earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles while Olivia Walbach fought for a 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles for Turners. Maddy Lilly and Emma Harmon came away with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 triumph in No. 2 doubles for the Thunder.
