H.S. Roundup: Jon Breor’s 24 points, 19 rebounds leads Greenfield past Hopkins Academy (PHOTOS)

Greenfield big man Jon Breor was a problem inside for the Hopkins boys basketball team on Friday. 

The sophomore went off for 24 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, with the Green Wave earning a 72-62 victory at Nichols Gymnasium. 

Greenfield led 41-36 at the half and 53-49 heading into the fourth quarter before pulling away in the final eight minutes. 

Caleb Thomas knocked down four 3’s to finish with 16 points, Jackson Campbell tallied nine points, Jacob Blanchard finished with eight points while Caleb Murray chipped in six points in the win. 

Cody West (17) and Teddy Cyr (14) were the high scorers for Hopkins. 

Franklin Tech 62, Turners 54 — Ty Sadoski made a living from the charity stripe, knocking down 22 free throws to finish with a game-high 32 points as the Eagles pulled out a Hampshire League North win over the visiting Thunder on Friday. 

Gabe Mota tossed in 14 points, Noah Ausikaitis recorded 13 points, Robbie Murphy had four points and Robert Belval added two points in the victory. 

Logan Addison and Jake Lavin both poured in 20 points, with Levin Prondecki adding nine points, Dylan Shinall tacking on three points and Cam Burnett scoring two points for Turners.

Drury 47, Pioneer 45 — A slow start plagued the Panthers on Friday in North Adams, falling behind 30-14 at the half. Pioneer came to life in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Blue Devils 20-8 but the comeback attempt fell just short, with Drury coming away with a Hampshire League South victory. 

Brayden Thayer had a team-high 18 points, with Josh Wood tallying nine points and Kurt Redeker adding eight points for the Panthers. Alex McClelland tallied five points, Gavin Gammell scored three points and Hugh Cyhowski scored two points in the loss. 

Quaboag 72, Mahar 40 — Quaboag was on fire from deep, erupting for 27 points in the third quarter as the Senators fell in an independent contest Friday. 

"We got a piece of humble pie tonight,” Mahar coach Chad Softic said. “Quaboag shot the light out with 13 3's but we let them do it so we got what we deserved."

Connor Sluder finished with 12 points, Morgan Softic recorded eight points, Will Barnes tallied seven points and Cathal Davis had six points in the loss. 

Girls basketball

Pioneer 80, Hampden Charter 30 — Kyler McClelland (13), Addie Harrington (13) and Fota N’Diaye (12) each finished in double-figures as the Panthers cruised to an independent win in Northfield Friday. 

Laura Kahler scored nine points and Sofia Walker had seven points in the win. Whitney Dunklee and Caroline Ring both had six points, Leah Potter and Brayleigh Burgh each had five points while Allie Cleary had four points to round out the Pioneer scoring. 

Mahar 61, Mt. Greylock 39 — Kendrah Doane scored 13 points and snatched 14 rebounds while Hayden Comeau finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds to help lift the Senators to an independent win over the Mounties in Orange Friday. 

 Nevaeh Scribner tossed in 16 points, Alivia Patch recorded seven points while Astha Bernard scored six points in the victory.
