H.S. Roundup: Frontier baseball holds off Greenfield in thriller at Vets Field

It seems to always come down to the wire when the Greenfield and Frontier baseball teams get together.
Friday night at Vets Field was no different.
Seven-inning wasn’t enough to decide a winner, with the game going to the eight tied 15-15. The Redhawks got two across in the top of the eighth and the Green Wave got one across, with Frontier pulling out a 17-16 victory.
Alex Gochinski, Miles Ferreira, Liam Skribiski-Banack and Nico Fasulo each had three hits for the Redhawks. Aidan Heffernan came out and held the Greenfield lineup down during extras while Ferreira made a big play in left field to keep Frontier alive.
John Marchefka knocked four hits including a double while Michael Pierce and Malik Moore each had two hits for the Green Wave.
Greenfield 20, Wahconah 10 — The Green Wave were on fire at the plate on Friday, crushing 25 hits which led to a Franklin County West win in Dalton.
Ellis Benitez had a monster day, crushing a home run, a double, three singles and knocking in six RBIs. Ainslee Flynn had four singles and a double, Rachel Dodge cracked a double, two singles and drove in a run, Carly Blanchard tallied a double, a triple, a single and brought in four runs, Amber Bergeron recorded a pair of singles and a double with two RBIs in the win.
MacKenzie Paulin went the distance in the circle, striking out seven.

Franklin Tech 15, Pioneer 5 — Lilly Ross struck out eight in a comple te-game outing in the pitching circle, and added a hit and four RBIs at the plate to help the Franklin Tech score a 15-5 victory over Pioneer on Friday in Turners Falls.
Shelby O’Leary was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the victory for the Eagles (13-2), which trailed 2-1 before scoring three runs in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth. Kylee Gamache had two hits, including a double, while Skylei Lapan added a hit and drove in three runs. Kaitlin Trudeau and Lilianna Inman each drove in two runs for the Eagles.
Panther Kelly Baird had a big day at the plate, smacking a two-run home run to left field in the top of the second inning that gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the time. Baird also hit an RBI double in the fourth, while Allison Cleary, Brayleigh Burgh and Natalie Johnson all had a hit for Pioneer. Burgh struck out four in the circle.
Taconic 12, Frontier 8 — The Thunder put seven runs up in the first inning and the Redhawks were unable to dig themselves out of that hole, falling in a Franklin County League West contest in Pittsfield on Friday.
Skyler Steele smashed three hits including a triple and knocked in three runs, Delaney Fifield and Hailey Hutkoski each cracked two hits, Gabby Adams tripled while Ash ley Taylor and Addie Wood each hit safely for Frontier.
Central 3, Athol 1 — The Golden Eagles won the opening set and didn’t look back, pulling away with a 25-14, 25-22, 16-25, 25-12 win over the Bears in Athol on Friday.
