Trump's comment about injecting disinfectant to fight coronavirus is just the latest in a long list of comments and actions that run contrary to mainstream science. He's gone against scientific and medical advice by staring at an eclipse without protection, calling climate change a hoax and saying wind turbines cause cancer. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik, File)

Washington, D.C., Feb. 29, 2025 — In a stunning move, President Donald Trump has claimed ownership of the sun, the star that is closest to Earth.

“No one else ever thought to do this, it’s incredible,” he said. “But now it’s true, my lawyers are writing up the paperwork and whatever … and now we’ll be calling it the Trump Sun. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? The Trump Sun.”

Trump’s company, an anonymous spokesperson said, will soon have the ability to charge fees to all companies, governments, and individuals who use the sun “for their own profit or betterment, whether it be for food, energy, or tanning purposes.” Because Trump will have sole ownership of the star, he will be able to charge whatever the market will bear.

“Don’t worry,” Trump said. “I’ll give Americans a special deal. It’s gonna be great, really great. Can you believe it, I own the sun now? Who would have thought it. Incredible. Just … Wow.”
