Track and tennis: Franklin Tech and Turners track use balanced effort to defeat Athol

Josiah Little won the long jump (18 feet, 3.75 inches), Gabriel Tomasi took the high jump (5-4) and Kessick Beck won the mile (five minutes, 51 seconds) to help lift the Franklin Tech boys track team to a 121-24 win over Athol on Friday in Turners.
For Athol, Nick LeBlanc won the discus (115-8) and Riley Reed won the javelin (124-10).
Greenfield 115, Pioneer 25 — Jackson Caron won four events and Ryan Pulizari nabbed the win in three as the Green Wave rolled in a dual meet on Friday in Greenfield.
Caron captured the victory in the 2-mile (12:02), 800 (2:14), 1-mile (4:55) and pole vault (9-6) in a busy day on the track. Pulizari was first in the long jump (17-5.5), triple jump (35-6.25) and javelin (121-4).
Krish Patel took the win in the 200 (25.7) and high jump (5-6), and Mason Youmell was also a double-winner in the 110 hurdles (19.8) and 400 hurdles (1:10.8). Deion Brewington of Greenfield snagged wins in the 100 (12.1) and shot put (41-0), and Jon Breor was the discus winner in 97-2.
Pioneer’s Carter Berthiaume won the 400 with a time of 1:01.9, and the Panthers’ 4x400 relay team of Berthiaume, Ryan Spofford, Levi Moran and Griffin de Ruiter also crossed with a winning time of 4:20.
Turners 121 Athol 24 — Laken Woodard won the javelin (54-9), Jaade Duncan came in first in the 100 (14.4) and Ella Guidaboni took the 100 hurdles (22.9) to lift the Thunder to a win over the visiting Bears on Friday.
Karleigh Chase won the shot put (25-4.25) and Piper Bailey won the high jump (4-2) for Athol.

Frontier 4, Pope Francis 1 — Jacob Han stayed unbeaten on the season with a victory at No. 3 singles for the Redhawks, as he notched a 6-2, 6-0 win to help Frontier take down the Cardinals on Friday.
Frontier’s Robert Fuqua was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at No. 2 singles, while the No. 1 doubles tandem of Oliver Brown and Harry Wri ght snagged a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Frontier , which improved to 6-1 on the season, won second doubles via forfeit.
Frontier 5, Hampden Charter 0 — The Redhawks improved to 8-1 with a shutout victory on Friday.
The No. 2 doubles pair of Amelia Dickson and Thanushi Ratnatunge completed the sweep with a tiebreaker win (4-6, 6-3, 10-8) after dropping the first set. No. 1 doubles pair Sam Baker and Chloe Felton-Emrick won their match 6-3, 6-0.
No. 1 singles Sydney Scanlon (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 singles Maddie Powers (6-1, 6-2) and No. 3 singles Hashini Ratnatunge (6-2, 6-2) also won their matches for Frontier.
SICS 3, Turners Falls 2 — The first doubles team of Jill Reynolds and Maddy Lilly scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at first doubles, while Steph Peterson captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles to account for the Thunder’s two victories.
