High schools: Frontier boys and girls track defeat Athol (PHOTOS)

The Frontier girls track team showed why it’s the defending Western Mass. Div. 2 champion on Wednesday in a meet against Athol.
The Redhawks had the first place finisher in every event, pulling away with a 144-0 victory over the Bears in South Deerfield.
Lilly Novak won the discus (76 feet, two inches) and the javelin (80-6), Summer Sobieski took the long jump (14-8.25) and the high jump (4-4), Abigail Howard finished first in the mile (5:56.5) and 800 (2:49.9) while Sophia Leone came in first in the 100 (13.3 seconds) and 200 (28.3) for Frontier.
Other Redhawk winners were Cadi Wells-Robinson in the shot put (28-2.25), Brooke Davis in the triple jump (28-11.5), Ayla Starr in the pole vault (10-0), Caroline Crocker in the 100 hurdles (15.6), Claire McFarland in the 400 (68.1), Maddie Antes in the 400 hurdles (80.9) and Sylvie DiBartolomeo in the 2 mile (13:30.7).
Frontier won the 4x100 (54.4) and 4x400 (5:05) relays.
Frontier 127, Athol 12 — Alex Schreiber won the shot put (36-5.5) and discus (114-3), Ian Burt took the long jump (17-10.75) and triple jump (35-6.5) while Erich Brown won the high jump (6-0) and 400 hurdles (68.0) and Ben Cachiguango came in first in the 110 hurdles (17.0) and the 200 (24.1) as the Redhawks picked up a win over the visiting Bears on Wednesday.
Other Frontier winners were Adrien Pazmandy in the pole vault (9-0) and 400 (55.2), Fernando Saravia in the 100 (11.6), Luke Howard in the mile (4:48.3), Aidan Valderrama in the 800 (2:11.4) and Evan Hedlund in the 2 mile (10:26.2). The Redhawks won the 4x100 (47.9) and 4x400 (3:50.3) relays.
Riley Reed was the lone winner for Athol, taking first in the javelin with a toss of 112 feet, nine inches.

Turners’ Holly Hicks and Avery Heathwaite won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles over Elias Crowell and Lauryn Lovett while Mady Lilly and Emma Haarman earned a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in No. 2 doubles over Mohawk Trail’s Ivan Hillenbrand and Landon Clark.
PVCICS 3, Greenfield 2 — Lydia Wood and Isabella Semonelli walked away with a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 1 doubles for the Green Wave in a loss to the Dragons on Wednesday at the Davis Street Courts.
Lily Duong and Jessica Mihailicenco walked away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 2 doubles for Greenfield.
Pope Francis 4, Turners 1 — Noah Kolodziej had the lone win of the day for the Thunder, earning a 2-6, 6-1, 10-8 tie break victory in No. 2 singles over Cardinal Pat Morrow.
Mike Boyle suffered a narrow 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 loss in No. 1 singles for Turners.
Four Rivers 10, NMH 3 — Eleanor Herbert scored a goal and dished three assists while Grace Parzych had two asssists and a goal and Tirzah Skelton had two assists as the Otter girls defeated NMH on Wednesday.
In boys ultimate, NMH defeated Four Rivers, 11-10, behind a big game from Toby Sol.
Sam Whitney played well for the Otters.
